Simple Leeks in White Sauce
You’ve seen me make the white sauce. So, how do we use it? I’m going to use it with leeks and some fresh chives.
- Recipe serves3
- Preparation Time15 min
- Cooking Time10 min
Ingredients
- 1 Knorr Chicken Stock Cube
- 1 serving Bechamel sauce
- Leeks
- Chives to garnish
Method
- Add 1 Knorr Chicken Stock Cube to a pan of water.
- Once boiling, put the roughly sliced leeks into the pan. Blanch the leeks in water with the Knorr Chicken Stock Cube (you can also use Vegetable, whatever you prefer).
- Pour on enough white sauce so it coats the leeks. You don’t want to drown them.
- Take some chives and finely chop.
- Add to the pan and mix through – voila!
- If you added leftover roast chicken to this mix it would make a great pie filling! Place in an ovenproof dish, top with pastry and brush a little milk over the pastry. Cook in the oven until the pastry is golden brown and the pie mix is piping hot throughout. For lots more hints and tips to help you make the most of your food, visit www.lovefoodhatewaste.com
