It’s hard to beat that classic combination of fried fish and tartar sauce. Somehow, the addition of the tartar makes the fish that little bit more delicious – serve with a lemon wedge and fries for a true taste of the seaside.

Ingredients

  • Tartar sauce
  • 75ml Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 75ml natural yoghurt, Greek style
  • 1 sour pickle, chopped fine
  • 1tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • 1tsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 2tsp lemon juice
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • Fish
  • 2tbsps flour
  • 500g white fish fillet like catfish, tilapia, haddock or cod, cut into 4 portions
  • 1tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Method

  • Make the sauce by combining all ingredients and blending well.
  • For fish combine flour and pepper in a shallow dish. Dust fish fillets in flour before frying.
  • Heat the olive oil and cook fish until lightly browned 3–5 minutes per side. Serve fish with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.
