Simple bolognese Sauce
Being able to whip up a good Bolognese Sauce is really useful, as it can be used as the basis for a number of dishes. This sauce is really quick and easy to make and is delicious served with your favourite pasta.

Ingredients
- 1 garlic clove, mashed
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 100g each: carrots, celery, leeks, very finely chopped
- 400g minced meat
- 2tbsps olive oil
- Dash of pepper to taste
- 2tbsps tomato paste
- 400g chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
- Chopped parsley & basil
- 400g spaghetti
- Freshly grated Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese
- 1 Knorr Beef Stock Pot
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot, add the onions, garlic, leeks and carrots, and sauté over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- Add celery and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Raise the heat to high and add the minced meat. Sauté, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes until the meat browns.
- Add the stock pot (undissolved), tomato paste, tomatoes, parsley and basil, and cook over a medium heat for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Pour over freshly cooked spaghetti and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bolognese sauce freezes perfectly and means you'll have a home-made ready meal available when you know you're going to be in a hurry. Remove from the freezer the night before you need it and allow to defrost fully in the fridge. Reheat thoroughly until piping hot when you are ready to eat it.
